Image use and copyright

Last updated 30 October 2026

The photos of our cats, Bean, Marshall, Max, Mila and Jelly Bean, were taken by John Maddock and are © John Maddock, all rights reserved. Each one carries a MeowBeans watermark and copyright details in the file, including the year it was taken.

What you’re welcome to do

  • Link to any page on MeowBeans, including pages with our photos on them.
  • Share our pages on social media, for example with the share buttons on each guide, so the photo stays connected to the original page.

What needs permission first

Please don’t copy, download and re-post, edit, crop out the watermark, or otherwise reuse our photos without written permission. That includes using them on other websites, in social media posts of your own, in print, or in anything you sell.

Asking to use a photo

Get in touch and tell us:

  1. which photo you’d like to use (a link to the page, or the image file name),
  2. where and how it will appear,
  3. whether it’s for personal, editorial or commercial use.

We read every request. If we say yes, we’ll ask for a credit to “John Maddock / MeowBeans” with a link back to www.meowbeans.com.

AI training and data mining

Our photos and text may not be used to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models, or for text and data mining, without written permission. This is also recorded in each photo’s copyright metadata.

Other images on this site

Some guides also use stock photos and other third-party images. These belong to their photographers and are used under licence, with credits shown where the licence requires them. If you’d like to use one of those, please go to its original source rather than copying it from us.
